Clear answers about scope, participation, partner delivery, funding, and facilitator authorization.
The program is deliberately specific about what it is—and what it is not.
Is EMERGE 8 alcohol treatment?
No. EMERGE 8 is designed as recovery education, peer support, emotional-sobriety skill building, action planning, and referral navigation unless it is delivered inside an appropriately credentialed clinical structure. It does not independently provide detoxification, diagnosis, psychotherapy, or medical treatment.
Who is the program for?
The initial model emphasizes adults—especially men—whose alcohol use is linked to anger, shame, isolation, relationship stress, pain, or other emotional triggers. Partner sites should still use a readiness and safety process to determine whether the program fits an individual participant.
How long is the program?
Eight weekly sessions, typically 90 minutes each. The model also includes intake, participant worksheets, a written recovery action plan, and optional 30/60/90-day continuation follow-up.
Is EMERGE 8 Alcoholics Anonymous?
No. EMERGE 8 is a separate recovery education program. It may encourage participants to connect with mutual-help, peer, faith, clinical, or community supports that fit their recovery plan, but it is not a replacement for or official extension of any external fellowship.
Can an organization sponsor participants?
Yes. The funding model is designed so grants, sponsors, or institutional contracts can cover most delivery costs and keep participant charges low or waived when necessary.
Can our organization become a delivery site?
Potentially. Partner delivery is intended to require trained facilitators, referral pathways, reporting, safety protocols, insurance and legal review where applicable, and adherence to program scope and fidelity standards.
Does an EMERGE 8 facilitator title make someone a licensed counselor?
No. Program authorization titles such as EMERGE 8 Approved Facilitator do not confer state licensure, clinical certification, or authority to diagnose or treat substance use disorders.
What outcomes does EMERGE 8 promise?
The program should not promise clinical outcomes it has not established. The pilot measurement model focuses on program delivery, attendance, skill confidence, support mapping, action-plan completion, referrals, satisfaction, and follow-up. Longer-term claims should be based on collected data and appropriate evaluation.
